Why this Role Matters

As Backend Engineer, you will build at the intersection of ML, cloud, and edge. Not to train fancy models in ideal conditions, but to make sure they run reliably in places with spotty connectivity, high stakes, and no margin for error. You’ll be joining a small, expert team crafting the backend systems and tools that power real-time AI at the edge. Along the way, you’ll tackle questions like:

• How do we remotely deploy ML updates to rigs in the North Sea?
• What does observability look like when you can’t SSH into a machine?
• How do we package, version, and test ML apps for field rollout?

What You'll Achieve

• Drive resilient backend development that powers ML deployment across industrial sites
• Build containerized Python workflows for edge/cloud environments with Docker and NVIDIA SDKs
• Enable remote observability and secure access for edge AI systems
• Collaborate with field engineers to test and roll out robust, versioned AI tools
• Automate deployment, improve system uptime, and eliminate guesswork in the field

What You Bring

• Proven experience in backend engineering with Python, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
• Your ability to design and scale distributed systems with high availability
• Familiarity with vision-based ML systems (image processing, point clouds)
• Clear communication and strong documentation habits that keep teams aligned
• Curiosity and drive to build things that work reliably under pressure

Nice to Have

• Experience with Nvidia Deepstream or edge AI deployment toolchains
• Background in industrial systems or infrastructure environments
• Knowledge of how to deploy, not just train, machine learning models
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for edge systems
