Marketing Intern – Developer Community

Intern / Student, Full or part-time · Rijswijk, Hybrid

About Helin
We help industrial operators make faster, safer decisions by turning scattered data into clear insights. Our platform works like an iOS App Store for industrial AI: companies build custom applications on our data foundation to solve operational challenges.

We're focused on oil & gas, where data safety and operational control directly impact crew safety and uptime. Drilling operations generate massive sensor, camera, and equipment data, but it sits in silos. Our platform brings everything into one unified, real-time operational view that works in harsh, disconnected environments like offshore rigs and remote drilling sites.

We work with industry leaders like Boskalis and BP. Our Red Zone Manager uses vision AI to monitor hazardous areas and improve crew safety, while our data platform enables customers to build their own AI and machine learning applications. We're a team of 80+ professionals from 35+ nationalities in Rijswijk.
Why this Role Matters
Developers are the people who use our platform daily. They build applications, integrate data, and create the AI solutions our customers depend on. But we have no structured way to engage them, learn from them, or bring them together.

This is a Greenfield internship project. You'll research, plan, and potentially launch Helin's first developer community initiative. You'll work across marketing, engineering, and sales to figure out what this community should look like.

There is no playbook. Part of your job is to decide whether the answer is a community platform, an event series, a content program, or something entirely different.
What You'll Achieve
  • Research developer personas: who they are, which platforms they use, how to reach them, and what they value from vendors like Helin.
  • Benchmark how other B2B tech companies run developer communities. Document what works, what doesn't, and what's feasible for an 80-person company.
  • Propose a community strategy with clear recommendations on format, tools, promotion, and resource requirements.
  • Get your plan approved by stakeholders across marketing, engineering, and leadership.
  • Start executing: launch the first community activity, onboard initial members, or deliver a ready-to-implement handover package.
  • Support daily marketing operations: ads, content, campaigns. Learn how B2B marketing works from the inside.
What You Bring
  • Currently enrolled in an HBO (University of Applied Sciences) program in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in social media platforms and online communities, specifically in a B2B context.
  • Organized and project-oriented. You'll own a multi-month project with multiple stakeholders.
  • Comfortable approaching people you don't know. You'll work with engineers and salespeople.
  • Curious about technology. You don't need to code, but you should be able to talk about AI, data platforms, and developer tools without glazing over.
  • Written and spoken English at professional level. Dutch is a plus.
If you meet 4 of 6, we encourage you to apply.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with community platforms (Discord, Slack communities, GitHub Discussions, developer forums).
  • Previous internship or project experience in B2B marketing.
  • Familiarity with developer culture and how tech communities operate.
  • Interest in industrial technology, energy, or oil & gas.
Note: Nice to have means not required.
